A dinner at Cracco’s new spot

25 Jan

Carlo Cracco is one of the most talented italian Chefs. He is seen as a pioneer in progressive Italian cuisine. He is universally acclaimed for his innovative take on classic Italian foods, combining the Milanese tradition with modern tastes and aesthetics. His brainchild, Cracco Restaurant was born in 2007 and has retained two Michelin stars.

He is one the the hosts for the Masterchef italian version and recently opened his second restaurant in Milan.

Last night I dined at Carlo e Camilla in Segheria. The space has been designed wonderfully, a really cool interior. The wine and cocktail menu is interesting and the bartenders are happy to walk you through it and help you choose based on what you feel like. Service was fantastic as was the food.

Great job Carlo!

Truffle and Bordeaux

20 Jan

Château Brulesecaille 1998 is a red wine, made by Château Brulesecaille. Its origin is Côtes de Bourg in Bordeaux, France. It is made from a Red Bordeaux blend. I kept it for so many years in my cellar in Italy that I almost forgot about it.

Red Bordeaux Blends are known for their powerful structure and deep flavors. Dark fruits and berries such as plum and blackcurrant are commonly used to describe the flavors of red Bordeaux, although there is an unlimited range of terms that have been ascribed to them. Tannins tend to be relatively high in these wines, giving them a firm structure

A dear friend gave me some truffle. I love truffle…it’s a fantastic pairing with my Bordeaux wine. And with some freshly prepared tagliatelle it was heaven

What a better way to taste it?

Faccoli and Arici, my favorites in Franciacorta

10 Jan

I can’t stop saying it…I love Franciacorta.

This time I returned to one of my favorite Winemakers Faccoli in Coccaglio in the heart of Franciacorta.

The always welcoming and nice Claudio let me taste all of his fantastic range of products…one better than the other. But the Dosage Zero still remains my favorite. It represents the research of the company, made possible by the experience gained through years of sparkling process. It’s complex, fresh and with a great persistence.

An other great Winemaker with an other amazing range of products was my second stop Arici. Andrea treated me like an old friend and gave me the opportunity to taste his production. Andrea is the only winemaker that produces exclusively Franciacorta ‘not measured’ (Zero Dosage) able to reveal the characteristics of the soil, worked daily by Him with stubborn conviction and enthusiasm, with full respect for nature still alive and flourishing around those vineyards. In two words: simply perfection!

Thank you guys for these special treats! See you next time

Villa Crespi…you can’t stop loving it

1 Jan

Some vacation in Italy gave me the excuse/opportunity to visit again the greatest Chef Cannavacciuolo!

As usual the dinner was unforgettable. His tecnique is superb and his signature fish dishes unique.

And what about the fastastic wine pairings they suggested! Absolutely amazing!

An other great meal ended with a picture with the Chef himself!
